Veer - For the Love of Willow

The name Veer, the traditional term for the resilient willow reed, embodies our commitment to this enduring craft. Our designs celebrate the strength and adaptability of willow, harmonizing aesthetics and functionality to create Modern Lifestyle Solutions.

At the core of our signature designs lies a unique concept: tunnel-inspired creations crafted from Kashmiri willow, tailored for both humans and pets. These pieces—ranging from tables and chairs to TV consoles—offer multifunctionality, blending aesthetic appeal with playful, pet-friendly spaces.

To bring our concepts to life, we partnered with Studio Kilab, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern production techniques. Metal frames are first crafted as sturdy foundations for each product. These frames are then carefully woven with willow by artisans, creating functional and artistic pieces that reflect both heritage and innovation.

TWO CRAFT BELT

The idea behind the design and development of this product is to combine two traditional Kashmir crafts (wood carving and willow wicker works), that have remained important constituents of Kashmir's craft heritage, in a new and unique way. The idea aims at merging the crafts in a single product, and securing its utility as per the contemporary fashion needs, while at the same time preserving the essence of each craft. The product created is a belt which has a strap made out of the willow wicker work and the buckle made up of walnut wood with carving.

The introduction of such product in the market shall not only help to increase and provide the livelihood to the artisans, but shall also cater to their need of a design intervention. Not to forget, the introduction of new designs will further increase their motivation towards the crafts, thus making the craft relevant to contemporary times, and serving as a victory for not just the designer or the artisan, but for the heritage too.
